Climbing in the Dolomites

Climbing in the Dolomites is possible around San Vigilio di Marebbe and surroundings, under many forms: vias ferratas, free-climbing, rock walls, and so on. If you aren’t an expert climber yet, you can enrol into a climbing school or it’s also possible to be accompanied by an expert Alpine guide. Climbing in the Dolomites around San Vigilio di Marebbe means facing itineraries whose level of difficulty is between III and VII; expert climbers can organize a hiking tour on the Southern wall of the Col Bechei, which offers rock walls between the VI and the IX level of difficulty. Free climbers can play their favourite sport around Pederü; history fans can visit the places where the Great War was fought on the Italian-Austrian old front, while climbing in the Dolomites!

Via ferrata Furcia Rossa

An interesting itinerary for climbing in the Dolomites is the Furcia Rossa – Via della Pace via ferrata. It allows you to know the WWI sceneries better; this was was fought here. It seems incredible that the Dolomites, the most beautiful mountains in the world, were the scenery of such an event! The via ferrata has a medium level of difficulty, and it’s advisable to climbers which already are quite well-trained. The track needs 6 hours to be covered and the overall difference in height is of 1000 meters. The starting point is the Fanes mountain refuge, located at 2060 meters of altitude, to get to the Limo Pass. From the Limo Pass, you reach the Great Alpe di Fanes, continuing along the Via della Pace. There are well- secured ropes and metal stirrups, but a via ferrata always requires much attention ... the wonderful panorama on the Tofane mountain massif can be sometimes distracting!
